Ibrahim Idris: Police boss appoints new spokesman

Speaking at the Police Force Headquarters in Abuja, the outgoing spokesperson, Bisi Kolawole noted that the appointment was in line with the tradition of the force.

Barely a week after his appointment, the Acting-Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has appointed Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Don Awunah as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO).
Speaking in Abuja on Monday, June 27, 2017, the outgoing spokesperson, Bisi Kolawole noted that the appointment was in line with the tradition of the force.
She urged members of the press to extend the same level of support and cooperation to the new spokesperson.
Awunah promised to increase the good relationship between the Police and the public in line with the policy thrust of the Force.
“I want to invite you to support the Nigeria Police Force to discharge its constitutional mandate of providing security to the people. I assure you of our cooperation. You know the IG is passionate about the media,’’ he said.
Awunah was in charge of Homicide Section of Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (FCIID) Abuja until his appointment.
He holds B.A. Degree in Philosophy from the University of Lagos and M.A. in International Relations and Strategic Studies from Benue State University, Makurdi.
He is a Fellow of Institute of Security Studies (fsi), Fellow of Institute of Corporate Administration, and Member, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
Meanwhile, the acting IGP has withdrawn the services of mobile police officers attached to individuals as security aides.
